Help Maria Cover Emergency Medical Bills
A mother's fight for health and her children's future
Three months ago, I went in for what I thought was a routine checkup. The doctor's face told me everything before the words came out. Stage 2 breast cancer.
I'm a single mom to two incredible kids — Lily (8) and Marco (5). They are my entire world, and they're the reason I get up every morning ready to fight this.
The treatment plan includes six rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery. My insurance covers some of it, but the copays, medication costs, and the days I can't work are piling up fast. Last month I had to choose between my prescription and groceries. A neighbor noticed and dropped bags on my porch without a word. That's the kind of world I want to live in.
I'm not asking for everything. I'm asking for enough breathing room to focus on getting better so I can keep being the mom my kids need. Any amount helps. A $20 gift means I don't have to skip my anti-nausea medication this week. $100 means Lily can stay in her after-school program while I'm in treatment.
Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for caring about a stranger.

Week 2: First Round of Chemo Complete
$3,400 in action
I finished my first round of chemotherapy on Thursday. It was hard — I won't pretend otherwise. But I'm here, I'm fighting, and your support made it possible.
Thanks to 47 anonymous gifts totaling $3,400, I was able to afford all my medications this month AND keep Lily in her after-school art program. She came home yesterday with a painting of "Mama being brave" and I completely lost it in the best way.
My next round starts in two weeks. The doctors say my response to treatment is "encouraging." I'm holding onto that word.
Thank you for being the invisible army behind us. You'll never know how many times I've looked at the donation notifications and cried happy tears.
